Show off your “kiss me” lips with lip fillers!
Lip fillers, or lip augmentation, is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure in which a physician uses synthetic or biological products to safely enhance, or augment, the lips. The doctor may use a variety of lip filler products including Juvederm®, Restylane®, Belotero®, Volbella®, or other filler materials to achieve enhancement. The difference between the fillers is their G’ factor, which determines viscosity of the material. Your provider will help you determine which filler is best for you. Patients seeking lip enhancement commonly fear an overdone and unnatural result, so Dr. Atkins works with every patient to ensure that they achieve the results they desire. Our lip patients love their results!
Dr. Atkins’ reputation and experiential level have made her one of a few national trainers with Allergan®, the makers of our most popular lip filler, Juvederm®. This is experience that you can trust!
Who would benefit from lip fillers?
Anyone desiring fuller lips is a candidate, whether male or female. Some people have always had thin lips, while others have experienced lip thinning as part of the aging process.
Where would my lip augmentation procedure be performed?
Lip augmentation/lip enhancement is an outpatient procedure performed in the office at Atlanta MediSpa & Surgery Center by Dr. Atkins, who has years of experience with lip fillers and augmentation.
How is the actual procedure performed?
For lip augmentation, the doctor uses injectable fillers such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, or Belotero®. Dr. Atkins injects a fine needled syringe containing the filler into the treatment site. Numbing is not typically needed as these products contain a numbing agent; however, patients can receive a topical prescription numbing agent if requested and/or additional comfort by cooling or icing. We are here to make sure your experience is comfortable.
What can I look forward to from having lip augmentation?
Beautiful lips of course! There may be some swelling at first, but this subsides quickly in most patients. Many love to have their lips done right before a special event as they know that our team will give them the look for which they are dreaming. Juvederm Volbella® by Allergan® Cosmetics
Juvederm Volbella® was the first FDA approved product proven to provide fullness in the lips as well as soften the lines around the mouth for up to 1 year.
What is Juvederm Volbella® XC?
It is a soft, hyaluronic acid product, like most lip fillers, that is indicated and approved by the FDA for the perioral (around the mouth) area as well as lines above and below the lips. Many times you will see these lines on smokers as well as straw-drinkers. It is approved for patients over the age of 21.
How long does it last?
Juvederm Volbella® as well as other fillers last up to one year in both the lips and perioral lines. The clinical data that supports this claim is highlighted as a double-blinded, randomized control trial, which is the scientific standard. In the study, the focus was on the safety and reliability of the product. The study consisted of three phases: the treatment phase, a follow-up phase, and also a 1-year follow up satisfaction phase.
Are patients satisfied with this product?
The patient satisfaction rate in the study was very high during the treatment phase as well as at the one year follow up. Many were retreated after that first year to hold on to that youthful appearance.
Afraid of trying new things?
Don’t be! Juvederm Volbella® as well as most fillers have been approved and used in Europe since 2011, Canada since 2013, and, as of 2016, it is being used in more than 70 countries around the world.
How is it formulated?
Juvederm Volbella® has a proprietary mixture of higher and lower molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which results in tightly and efficiently cross-linked gel. It is formulated with Vycoss technology which results in a smoother, as well as softer, gel. Additionally, The lower concentration of hyaluronic acid, 15 mg/ml, gives us the lowest water affinity and lowest cohesively, which allows it to not “puff up” and to spread easily. For these reasons, it is becoming a clinical favorite of Dr. Debra Atkins’.
