Light therapy delivered by laser is an innovative technology that sets new standards for skin conditions associated with aging, active lifestyles, sun damage, and brown spots. This type of light energy allows the physician to precisely treat age spots, brown spots, small facial veins, and many other skin conditions. After a detailed discussion , we will decide on a treatment plan specific to your skin type and lifestyle in order to help you achieve the goals you desire.
How does Intense Light Work?
The light energy delivered by the intense light laser, or BBL, will gently heat the outer layers of your skin. Light filters allow for the exact targeting of certain cell types and colors that you want diminished. The heat absorption in the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate new collagen. This process will restore your skin to its natural beauty, blending its natural skin tone colors while making it smoother, vibrant, and younger looking. In addition, the photothermal energy will eliminate fine lines that cause early aging. This treatment has very little downtime and the results are impressive as you can see from our patient’s photo above.
What conditions can be treated with Intense Pulse Light or BBL?
- Pigmented Lesions (freckles, age spots)
- Vascular Lesions (small blood vessels on the face)
- Skin firmness and overall tone/textural changes
What are common treatment areas?
We can use Intense Pulse Light on almost any area of your body that the laser can touch, but it is most commonly directed at sun damaged areas such as the chest, neck, face, and hands.
How many treatments will I need for my brown spots?
The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient. Our physicians will personalize a treatment plan based on the level of improvement you desire.
What should I expect after the treatment?
You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions, you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and maybe flaking off in some areas. Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated.
How long will it take to recover?
This is a noninvasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime when done by a skilled physician. However, this is the most common cause of laser burns that we see in our office for repair, so choose your physician and/or laser provider based upon experience and training.
