Liposuction and Body Sculpting can help those stubborn fat areas!
Have you dieted, exercised, and spent time with a personal trainer, but still can’t get rid of stubborn fat? Your reason for choosing liposuction may be wanting to look better at the beach this summer or just looking amazing year round. What ever your reason for wanting to look better, you have to remember that liposuction does not replace a good diet and exercise. See impressive results and achieve perfection by combining a good diet and exercise with liposuction!
What is laser liposuction?
Laser assisted liposuction is a procedure that can provide you with a more desirable body shape by removing accumulated fat cell deposits from the body. This procedure is NOT for treating obesity related health issues, but simply a body-contouring solution for those wanting to improve their body shape. Our trained physician inserts a suction tube or cannula (small, blunt instrument with or without a laser fiber) into the area through a tiny incision placed in an inconspicuous location of the skin. Then, with the high pressure vacuum and laser fiber, the fat cells liquefy and exit from this tiny incision, resulting in a more “sculpted” body with more appealing contours.
What is Tumescent Liposuction?
Tumescent Technique liposuction involves using a mixed saline solution with local anesthetics to cause considerable swelling in the targeted fat area being treated. This allows the surgeon to insert a small cannula connected to a vacuum to extract the unwanted fat for transferring to a more desirable area (such as the buttocks) or to discard. The tumescent solution also provides numbing underneath the skin at the treatment location. The unwanted fatty tissue is then removed into a vacuum leaving you with more desirable contours and fewer fat bulges. This is a very comfortable procedure for the patient.

What areas can liposuction treat?
Most areas are treatable with liposuction. The most common areas for women are love handles, abdomen or the mommy bulge, upper back, arms, and inner thighs. For men, flanks, abdomen, and neckline are the common treatment areas. Many times the fat is harvested with tumescent liposuction, not laser liposuction, and transferred to the breast, buttocks and other areas. During your consult, we will thoroughly cover all of the options and answer any questions you may have.
How can you determine the success of liposuction?
To examine the success of liposuction we focus on inches and desired body curves, rather than pounds. The weight lost is not as important as the increased physical appeal when it comes to cosmetic surgery. A patient’s increased self-confidence takes precedence over anything else. We then work on an exercise plan and diet modification to maintain the desired results.
Fat removal after this procedure is definitely permanent! This is mainly because we do not recreate fat cells after puberty. The cells in existence simply expand, causing us to gain weight. Liposuction removes many of these cells which ultimately results in a more desirable body shape overall.
How will my skin look after this procedure?
Your appearance will be similar to losing weight by diet and exercise. There will still be stretch marks and dimples, however, using laser assisted liposuction along with the PAL hand-piece, smaller cannulas, and proper technique, the skin will remain intact and not sag. Many times, stretch marks become smaller as the large bulging fat pocket is removed. Contraction of the skin will continue to occur after the treatment, usually around 6 months. Most patients are able to avoid skin-tightening surgeries afterwards, which is one less thing to worry about when undergoing your journey to your new body!
How will recovery go?
After your surgery, you will need a few hours of rest, after which, you can gradually increase movement at your level of comfort. We encourage everyone to get up and walk after any surgery to prevent complications. Most patients are ready to continue their regular routines after a day or two. After surgery, the treated area is wrapped firmly in an elastic compression garment provided by our office to prevent swelling and bruising. The garment needs to be worn full-time, and you may not submerge under water for three weeks. After the healing process, we include 6 Body Contouring Laser treatments in order for the patient to achieve maximum results.
When I am looking around, how do I know how to measure the benefits?
From a cosmetic point of view, successful liposuction is measured by patient satisfaction. The weight of the removed fat is not as important as the way the patient looks after the procedure. When looking at before and after pictures, make sure that they reflect a smooth contoured body without visible signs of scars and that they are not augmented with other procedures like tummy tucks. If you need a tummy tuck, then make sure the pictures that you are viewing reflect this as well.
Who are the best candidates?
The best candidates have firm, elastic-rich skin, are overall very healthy for a surgical procedure, maintain a good diet and exercise program, can pinch the area of fat concern, and have a realistic body image and projected outcome. Our staff consults are in place to help address any questions for candidates considering this procedure.
Will the fat come back?
No, not in the treated area. However, from the time you were born to about 18 months of age, you produced adipose or fat cells. After this age, when you begin to gain weight, you expand those fat cells, rather than create new ones. Liposuction removes these bulky unwanted fat cells to create a smooth, contoured look. Should you gain weight after liposuction, it goes to the fat cells that were not removed during this procedure. For example, if you have cells removed from your abdomen and then you gain weight, it will go to another place, such as your arms or legs.
All questions and concerns will be discussed in great detail during your consult.
